By Dustin Simpson, Owner of California RV Specialists

If you don’t know who I am, I’d like to take a moment to introduce myself.

My name is Dustin Simpson, and I’m the owner of California RV Specialists in Lodi, California.

I’ve spent more than 26 years in the RV industry, helping owners diagnose, repair, maintain, and understand their RVs. Since opening California RV Specialists in 2003, our team has assisted approximately 1,200 to 1,500 RV owners every year, working on everything from routine maintenance and warranty repairs to complete structural rebuilds, roof replacements, suspension upgrades, and complex water intrusion repairs.

If you’d like to learn more about my education, certifications, industry experience, and professional background, you’re welcome to view my full curriculum vitae (CV) on our website.

We Built This the Old-Fashioned Way

One thing I’d like people to understand is that everything we’ve built has been earned.

We don’t pay to have our posts shared.

We don’t buy subscribers, followers, or engagement.

We don’t have a large advertising budget.

We’re not backed by a major dealership, manufacturer, or corporate marketing department.

We’re not sponsored to promote products or tell people what they want to hear.

Everything you see—our website, Facebook communities, YouTube channel, articles, and educational content—has grown because RV owners have found value in what we share and have chosen to pass it along to others.

That means more to me than any advertising campaign ever could.

Why I Started Creating Content

People often ask why I spend so much time writing articles, making videos, answering questions, and sharing what happens inside our repair shop.

The answer has very little to do with social media.

It’s personal.

Several years ago, I lost my father to cancer.

When he was gone, I realized I had almost nothing to remember him by—just a couple of short video clips.

Since then, I also lost my stepfather, who spent decades working beside me repairing RVs, along with several employees who became like family. Their loved ones also have very few photos or videos documenting the work they did or the memories they created.

That changed my perspective.

I began taking pictures and recording videos so that one day my daughter, Callie, could look back and see what her dad did for a living, the people he worked with, and the friendships we built along the way.

What started as preserving family memories slowly grew into something much bigger.

Sharing Knowledge Beyond the Repair Shop

Today, I typically spend more than 60 hours each week operating our repair facility.

In addition, I devote another 20 to 40 hours during early mornings, evenings, and weekends writing articles, producing educational videos, answering questions, participating in RV owner communities, and helping people across North America better understand their RVs.

My goal has never been to become an internet personality.

My goal has always been to educate RV owners.

If I can help someone prevent a costly repair, understand how a system works, or make a better decision before spending thousands of dollars, then I’ve accomplished what I set out to do.

Experience Matters

Over the past 26+ years, I’ve worked on thousands of RVs from nearly every major manufacturer.

That experience has also led to opportunities to serve as an expert in RV-related legal matters involving manufacturers, dealerships, insurance companies, repair facilities, and consumers.

Just as importantly, I’ve declined many cases.

If I believe the facts don’t support the allegations, or if I feel a situation comes down to buyer’s remorse rather than an actual defect or repair issue, I won’t participate.

My reputation is worth far more than any paycheck.

Integrity isn’t something you can advertise.

It’s something you build over decades.

Real Repairs. Real Experience.

Everything I share comes from real-world experience inside an active RV repair facility.

The articles, videos, and educational content aren’t based solely on theory or internet research—they’re based on what we actually see coming through our shop every day.

Since 2003, we’ve helped tens of thousands of RV owners and continue to learn something new every week.

Every repair becomes another opportunity to educate someone else.

Thank You

If something I’ve shared has answered a question, helped you solve a problem, prevented an expensive repair, or simply given you more confidence as an RV owner, I’d appreciate one small favor.

Share it with another RV owner.

The more educated RV owners become, the stronger our entire industry becomes.

Thank you to everyone who follows our journey, watches our videos, reads our articles, asks thoughtful questions, and shares your own experiences.

Your support allows us to continue doing what we love.

At the end of the day, my mission is simple:

Help RV owners spend less time worrying about repairs and more time making memories with their families.

Thank you for being part of that journey.
