California RV Specialists has developed three proven 50-amp towable solar system examples designed for RV owners wanting reliable off-grid capability for fifth wheels, travel trailers, and truck campers.
These system examples are built from real world towing and boondocking use — not theoretical brochure designs — and are a great foundation for most 50A towable applications.
Each package can be customized based on your battery chemistry, power requirements, inverter needs, solar roof space, camping style and expected off-grid duration.
Whether you want a solar assist system, a true multi-day boondocking platform, or a full lithium / inverter off-grid energy build — we can design it, build it, and install it.
These packages are fully customizable, or we can create a complete custom energy solution built specifically for your towable RV.
All systems provide plenty of energy to run normal 12V DC electronics suck as (lights, vent fans, USB outlets, etc.) and small 120V AC electronics (phones, laptops, TVs, etc.) for a very long time, as well as moderate use of larger appliances (air conditioners, microwaves, hair dryers, etc.). The larger your system’s battery bank, the more power you’ll have to use. The more solar you have, the faster you can recharge your battery bank.

SoftStart is designed for single-phase motors, and works seamlessly with a generator, inverter, battery or solar power. If you want to run your air conditioning off of solar via your inverter, you will need an SoftStart in order to lessen the initial energy draw of the A/C. Without one, you will likely damage your inverter over time.
