Brinkley RV DeeMaxx Disc Brake Installation & Upgrades

Brinkley RV owners invest in premium fifth wheels designed for serious travel. If your Brinkley is equipped with electric drum brakes and you’re looking for improved trailer braking performance, a DeeMaxx hydraulic disc brake conversion may be an upgrade worth considering.

DeeMaxx conversions have been documented on Brinkley RV Model Z fifth wheels, including 7,000- and 8,000-lb axle applications.

Because Brinkley RV running gear varies by model, year and equipment package, and some newer Brinkley RV models already have hydraulic disc brakes, your existing system should always be verified before selecting a conversion.

Why Upgrade a Brinkley RV to Disc Brakes?

Traditional electric drum brakes use magnets, brake shoes and internal hardware to slow the trailer.

Hydraulic disc brakes use an electric-over-hydraulic actuator to create hydraulic pressure. That pressure operates calipers that squeeze brake pads against the rotors.

For owners of larger fifth wheels, hydraulic disc brakes can provide the strong, smooth and consistent braking response they’re looking for.

More Than Just Replacing the Brakes

A professional DeeMaxx conversion can involve:

  • Hub/rotor assemblies
  • Calipers and brake pads
  • Bearings and seals
  • Hydraulic brake lines and fittings
  • Electric-over-hydraulic actuator
  • Electrical connections
  • Breakaway system integration
  • Brake fluid filling and bleeding
  • Brake controller compatibility
  • Final inspection and testing

Complete DeeMaxx brake, hydraulic-line and actuator conversions have been performed on Brinkley Model Z fifth wheels, demonstrating that this is a practical upgrade for compatible configurations.

Inspect the Running Gear at the Same Time

A disc brake upgrade is also a good opportunity to inspect the rest of your Brinkley’s running gear.

We recommend checking the wheel bearings, axles, suspension, shackles, bushings, equalizers, tires and wheels before completing the conversion.

If something is worn or damaged, it’s better to identify it while the RV is already in the shop.

Not Every Brinkley Needs a Conversion

Some Brinkley models and configurations are already equipped with hydraulic disc brakes. For example, Brinkley’s current Model G information lists hydraulic disc brakes as part of its running-gear configurations.

That’s why we don’t recommend assuming that every Brinkley requires the same parts.

The model, year, axle capacity, existing brakes, wheel configuration and other running-gear components should be identified before ordering a DeeMaxx system.
